HP 530 laptop Review
This laptop has excellent build quality and this is reflected in the outer shell encasing all of the important components. There is plenty of protection behind the panel which ensures that its always safe from harm if it should encounter a knock. Considering the excellent price of this machine you wouldnt expect such high levels of quality.
The HP 530 laptop has a widescreen measuring at 15.4 inches which is an excellent size both portably and for viewing movies etc. The 530's keyboard is a real pleasure to use and sits neatly in the centre of the chassis.
The touchpad on the HP530 notebook is in a slight dip in the centre of the chassis and we found that this helped to eliminate hitting the pad with your thumb when typing so its an
excellent place to put it in our opinion, it also adds to the style of the machine.
The specification is what you'd expect from a budget laptop, however you shouldnt be decieved as this small price certainly packs a heft punch. So what does the 530 have inside? Well its housing an Intel Celeron Mobile processor which helps speed the laptop along nicely meaning that it coped with our applications with ease. For the everyday tasks that you'd likely use a machine such as this for its perfectly adequate. Start running too many applications on this laptop and things might start to slow down slightly, however as it is it does a very good job.
The HP 530 comes with windows vista basic. The internal graphics card is integrated so wont be able to deal with all of the graphic labour of the more advanced features in vista however it will handle the standard and basic graphics perfectly.
It does come with a DVD writer which we thought was an excellent addition to the budget 530 and this was also great to watch movies on, especially with the widescreen that it has. This isnt the lightest laptop on the market but then its not likely to be for the measly price. Its perfectly adequate in weight for using dail, especially if you have a decent laptop bag/rucksack. The weight of the HP 530 is just over 2.5kg.
We found that the battery life was just over two hours which means you'll ideally need to carry a second battery with you if you want to work without the power supply. However most trains these days tend to have power outlets anyway.
In Summary:
The HP 530 laptop faired very well in our tests of everday use. It copes well when browsing the internet and using word processing programs so it should suffice for the simpler of tasks. It was a joy to watch DVD's on however we would advise using the power supply to avoid running out of battery at the last minute. As a budget laptop this has to be one of the UK's leading becauase it was such a joy to use and for the price there isnt anyway that we can fault it! One day you may outgrow this machine but until then grab the this fantastic laptop at a bargain price!
